state of play

Currently, in the Virginia House of Delegates—the only chamber in the Commonwealth up for election in 2021—Democrats hold 55 seats and Republicans 45. If Republicans retake just six seats, we will break the governing majority.

House Democrats have nominated the most far-left statewide ticket in Virginia history. The progressive left is hoping to galvanize their movement around highly partisan policies that don’t work for all Virginians. It’s more important than ever that we elect Republican candidates whose policy priorities will pave the way to opportunity and prosperity for Virginians—and all Americans.

Ideological turmoil within the Democratic party could provide an opportunity for Republicans to end one-party rule. Now is our chance to validate that our ideas make Americans’ lives easier, safer, and better—and build a bridge to Republican victory across the country in 2022. Contribute to help the GOPAC Election Fund retake the majority in the Virginia House.

The Stakes Have Never Been Higher

The truth is, for much of our history, Virginia Republicans and Democrats have agreed on the direction our Commonwealth needed to go—we just disagreed on how to get there. Those days are over. Democrats are pushing policies that will make the cost of everyday household expenses go up, rake into state government more of our incomes, and take every opening to push progressive political activism in our schools.

Republicans in Virginia fought to keep businesses open and they’ll fight back against Democratic policies of higher taxes and increased regulations that stifle growth.

While Democrats prioritize keeping schools closed and pushing radical curriculums like critical race theory, Republicans want kids back in schools and politics removed from a child’s educational experience.

Investment in infrastructure is key to promoting a bustling economy and Republicans want to focus on making comprehensive changes to Virginia’s transportation challenges.

Keeping Virginians safe is the primary responsibility of their government. As Democrats embrace riots and unrest, Republicans will work to keep Virginia a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.

The COVID-19 pandemic underscored how important health care is to Virginians. Now is not the time to play politics with the health care system, which is exactly what Democrats have done. Republicans want to make health care more affordable and improve quality for all Virginians.

ROADMAP TO THE MAJORITY

We have the advantage: Virginia elections tend to favor the party that does not hold the White House, and the election will likely be conducted under old district lines, which favor Republicans. The time has never been better for us to terminate one-party rule in the Old Dominion State.

The entire Virginia House of Delegates is up for election in 2021 and Republicans need to win six seats to retake the majority.
